Our Story
Reading Road™ was created to address one of the greatest educational challenges of our time. Millions of children and adults continue to struggle with reading, limiting confidence, opportunity, and participation in a world increasingly driven by communication and knowledge.
We believe every learner deserves the opportunity to succeed within the safety and comfort of their own home, free from the pressures, comparisons, and frustrations that have shaped the educational experience of so many. Through personalized one-to-one learning, Reading Road™ creates an environment where curiosity, engagement, and growth can flourish.
For learners and families where English is a second language, Reading Road™ bridges communication across multiple languages, helping learners strengthen English communication skills while building upon the language, experiences, and understanding they already possess.
Our vision extends far beyond reading. We are helping create a future where every learner can develop the communication skills, confidence, and literacy needed to participate fully in education, employment, family life, and community.
Our Co-Founders
David Chalk
David Chalk learned to read at age 62, a journey shared in the documentary The Truth About Reading Through that experience, he discovered something profound: reading begins long before words appear on a page.
Human beings are natural communicators. Long before we learn to read, we learn to listen, speak, share ideas, tell stories, ask questions, and connect with others. David’s vision for Reading Road™ grew from the belief that rich oral communication, strong vocabulary, and meaningful conversation form the foundation upon which reading, writing, confidence, and lifelong learning grow.
Driven by deep empathy for learners of all ages, David is committed to helping people discover their voice, strengthen their ability to communicate, and unlock opportunities that come from being able to express ideas with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Kevin Bobroske
Kevin Bobroske brings more than three decades of experience in advanced systems development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and large-scale technology leadership.
His vision has been to make personalized one-to-one learning available to every learner while ensuring Reading Road™ is built to the highest standards of safety, privacy, governance, reliability, and scalability.
Under Kevin’s leadership, Reading Road™ is being developed as a National Learning Infrastructure designed to support millions of learners while protecting personal information through rigorous security, privacy, compliance, resilience, and responsible artificial intelligence practices.
Reading Road™ is being built with alignment to internationally recognized frameworks including SOC 2 (System and Organization Controls 2), ISO 27001 (International Organization for Standardization Information Security Management), the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Cybersecurity Framework, and Privacy by Design principles. Every aspect of the platform is guided by a commitment to trust, transparency, security, and long-term stewardship for learners, families, educators, and communities.
Together, David and Kevin share a vision of a future where every learner has access to the guidance, encouragement, communication skills, and individualized support needed to thrive.

Through his bestselling book, The Teacher Who Couldn’t Read, the John Corcoran Foundation and decades of advocacy, John has helped bring global attention to a challnge that affects millions of children and adults.
As Principal Executive Advisor, John helps guide Reading Road™‘s mission to transform learning, expand opportunity, and advance meaningful reading reform for future generations.
